Originally made in the New Lebanon Shaker community dating to the 1830s. This chair is made of maple with finials on the back leg posts, mortised slats in the back legs that are pinned at the top with maple pegs.

The chair is finished with 3 coats of varnish and has a checkered taped seat.

Unique to this chair are the tilt buttons on the bottom of the back legs, allowing the chair to be leaned backward without the legs 'digging in' and possibly damaging the floor.
